Direct attack costs of terrorist conspiracies

.In one of its reports on terrorist financing, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) -- an inter-governmental body whose purpose is the development and promotion of national and international policies to combat money laundering and terrorist financing -- has explored the range of methods used by terrorists to move funds within and between organisations. According to it, the three primary methods used are: through the financial sector, by physical transportation, and, through the commercial trade system. Charities and alternative remittance systems have also been used to disguise movement of terrorist funds, the report says. As the fight against terror has to be fought on many fronts — blocking access to finance is too important a front to be ignored.
